eLearning Lesson Study |

Thank you very much for your interest in our research on incorporating video into a Japanese-style lesson study process. This page has links to the video clips that the teachers viewed in our study. We've left the instructions and scaffolding questions that they saw as they watched the various clips. Please see our paper Investigating the Use of Video in Online Professional Development for a discussion of our findings. |

Before our phone conversation, we’re asking you to watch some brief video clips of your own and each other’s introduction of the California Energy Unit. The main research questions that we are posing are: (1) Is it helpful to watch classroom video of your own teaching, (2) Is it helpful to discuss your classroom teaching video with a group of your peers, and (3) Would you participate in professional development that involved uploading video of your own classroom teaching followed by a phone/web conversation with your peers. Please keep these questions in mind as you watch the videos, as they will guide our discussion on Monday. In the video excerpts that follow, we have included two clips for each teacher. The short clip is an edited video of approximately 3 minutes that we have edited to include only very salient classroom issues. The longer video runs for 10 minutes and is an example of just “letting the camera roll.” As you watch the two video clips, please think about technical considerations such as length of the video, bandwidth, and whether you prefer the edited (short) or raw (long) versions. |
Questions on each video: Please briefly think about the following issues after watching each video.
